survival/hunting why does the cold steel gurka kurkri come blunt?
I ve seen some videos of this machete and it looks good. but I was expecting to have a sharp blade out of the box but the edge is coated. I haven’t got a sand belter, should I just take a file to it.
its a machette is not for decorative purposes. I dont really care aslong as it can chop through stuff. Ive seen a destruction test for this knife and it can take allot of shit.
i know other people have had the same issue, I think it just comes like this. I just want to know the best way to sharpen it properly wihtout a sand belter. if anyone does know why they do it on these knives, it would be intresting to know.
What is a “sand belter”? I have heard of belt sanders.
I wouldn’t use a sander to sharpen a blade anyway. You want a good metal file. Hold the file at a 45 degree angle to the blade until you get it very sharp. Then switch to a good wet stone for the finishing touches. A sharp Kurkri can cut a free hanging 1″ rope in one swing.
